Meet The New Additions To SmartCrete CRC
Since the beginning, SmartCrete CRC has worked to promote and develop research into the Australian concrete industry. With the aim to promote and develop the concrete supply chain and associated industries at its core, SmartCrete and its dedicated team have always strived for the best.
On September 2nd, 2021, SmartCrete CRC announced the onboarding of two new staff members that will join the existing hardworking team.
SmartCrete said in a media release that the appointment of these two members is, "vital to the realisation of our vision to fully develop integrated product development and systems capability," in the coming future.
First to join is Professor Vute Sirivivatnanon, who has joined SmartCrete CRC as the new Research Director. Dr Sirivivatnanon completed his PhD at the University of New South Wales in concrete technology and has worked in various roles, becoming well known to the cement and concrete industry. Dr Sirivivatnanon has worked for large industry research institutions such as CSIRO and Cement, Concrete and Aggregates. More recently, Dr Sirivivatnanon is a Professor for Concrete Engineering at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Dr Sirivivatnanon will bring his extensive research skills to SmartCrete and will strengthen the overall research strategy, ensuring the realisation of relevant research.
Second, to join the team is Mr Alan Leow as the Commercialisation Manager. Mr Leow has studied at various institutions including but not limited to, The University of Aukland, RMIT and UNSW. Whilst furthering his study, Mr Leow also held positions working in the industry. Boral (Malaysia) and Austral precast are just a few. Most recently, Leow has worked in the precast concrete industry in Western Australia with BGC Precast. Mr Leow will be responsible for developing SmartCrete's intellectual property and commercialisation strategy.
Dr Warren South, CEO of SmartCrete CRC welcomed the injection of new expertise saying, “SmartCrete CRC welcomes Vute and Alan to our team. Their expertise and familiarity with the concrete construction industry issues and challenges will strengthen our ability to deliver a strong and relevant research and commercialisation portfolio,” he said.
